Overview

Dandelion Designs is a residential landscape design firm in Atherton, California.  The lead designer, Julie Mickelson, has translated a history of design and 15 years of business management in the high-tech industry to a thriving and local business.  While Ms. Mickelson grew up in Atherton, she also has lived in  England and France therefore brings both  local knowledge and European influences to her designs for clients in the San Francisco Bay Area.  In addition to a B.S. Degree in Finance and an M.B.A., Julie received an A.S. 
Degree in Horticulture and Landscape Design from Foothill College in 2009 and her CA State C-27Landscaping Contractor License
 #997079 in 2012.

Design Services

Residential Master Plans.  Scaled illustrative drawings which utilize the design principles of balance, texture,
symmetry and flow:

• Basic Design Elements:  Visual  points, lines, planes, 
  forms, motion, color, and texture.   Non visual elements  
  such as sound, fragrance, and touch.
• Principles of Organization: Unity, harmony, simplicity, emphasis, scale, sequence, contrast and color.
• Forms: Geometric such as right angles or circles, Naturalist such as meandering, scallops,  spiral  polygons, or organic edging/clustering.

Installation Services

Project Oversight.  During the landscape installation phase, Dandelion Designs offers the following oversight services:

• Contractor Selection & Management
• Estimating & Budgeting
• Project Management
• Maintenance Referrals

Plant  Material & Hardscape Sourcing.  Dandelion Designs has established relationships with all the major growers and granaries wholesaler’s in the region and can hand select the best plant specimens and/or hardscape materials (stone, wood, brick, concrete and pavers for your garden.
